Your situation sounds VERY similar to mine, even down to the
prescription. My suggestion would be to find a doc who does Visian, and
check with them to see if your pupil size is not excessively large
(limits the halos). Your astigmatism will probably change a little, and
not necessarily for the better. But if you are at all like me, just the
ability to see the alarm clock in the morning will make you happy.

Halos seem to be the largest problem, and for the people who do
experience them, they are miserable. I've been lucky: although they
happen to me, they normally don't trouble me. I initially thought the
other users were exaggerating! I finally got to experience the misery
firsthand while artificially over-dilated. It truly *is* miserable.
I've totally changed my tune on halos. They are something to be
carefully considered.

If there is one thing this group can recommend, I think it would be to
talk to your doc about the halo problem. Make sure that your pupils
don't normally open wider than the corrected part of the lens. If you
do night-work, consider the surgery extra-carefully. I've heard of
multiple police officers who found the halos to be a dangerous problem
for them.

By the way, in your message had you asked for recommendations for a
surgeon in your area (LA). As the group's moderator, I generally frown
on anything that could be construed as advertising. So, I prefer not to
recommend anyone in particular. I want you to be able to trust that the
information you get from here isn't from people with ulterior motives.

With that said, I think finding a good surgeon is vitally important, and
I think recommendations are a part of that search. If you had your
surgery in the LA area, you might want to send a private message to this
user.

From what I can tell, you are an excellent candidate for the Visian ICL or Verisyse PIOL. I have large pupils and see full halos at night, but they stopped...

I've had the surgery as well (Visian) four months ago and been very happy. Other things besides halos to consider is astigmatism. I'm bad at translating axis,...

I think the next step for me is to see a surgeon for a consulation. As you can see, I will have a list of questions for him/her. Most people around me don't...
