I just joined the group. I'm interested in this procedure and would
like to ask some questions to people who have undergone it.
I have had a very strong myopia since my late teens. I'm currently
35. I was in glasses in second grade and contacts in sixth grade.
My current glasses prescription is as follows:
(R) sphere -11.25; cyl. 0.50; axis 25
(L) sphere -12.00; cyl. 0.75; axis 10
In 2002, I was interesting in the LASIK procedure. I got a
consultation with a respected doctor in Tampa, FL. Due to my high
myopia and cornea thickness he wouldn't touch my eyes. He informed
me of a procedure under FDA approval. I now understand this to be
PIOL. I thanked him and went on my way.
Here I am 6 years later. I now live in the LA area and am interested
once again in freeing myself from glasses and contacts.
I've read generally positive results of the procedure from posts on
this group. I understand however, that the procedure is not without
potential concerns (halos, etc.).
From my current perspective, wearing high myopia corrective
contacts/glasses is no cakewalk. I have halo's, blurred
vision, "coke bottle" type embarrassment, etc. Before I sign up for
the procedure I'd like to carefully weigh the pros and cons.
Thanks.
