Here are  three Reflections as an example

24) One cannot or mustn't say to those who are ill and
suffering: " That's God who puts you to the test". In this way we
would offend The God of Endless Love who cannot wish our suffering.
One needs say to those who suffer: " God's Son himself suffered
because of evil, but you will also resurrect with Him, as He did".
That is the truth and only the truth can give one who suffers the
Hope which won't let him fall into that despair the devil one wants
to seize his soul and conscience! Saying: "it's God who puts you to
the test" gives a suffering man the same relief a learned lecture on
food chemistry gives a starving  one.

29) We can give or take from God, Creator of all things, nothing,
except for two things: we can take from Him Honour by offending Him
with our refusal, we can give Him our love, by accepting Him in our
heart! With what insolence might we wish or boast His Light one day,
we, if we had denied Him all life long, being able to believe Him and
not doing that?

38) There are many Evangelic miracles showing the spontaneity of
a memory, neither built nor adapted, which nevertheless is engraved
in the memory of those who were present to the event.  It is from
conveyed small details that the truth of the memory of a lived and
handed down episode transpires.

The FDA versus the Life Extension Foundation

The concept of life extension lies beyond the boundaries of
therapeutic categories in the limited minds of government bureaucrats
who are satisfied with their limited lifespans. This would not be
worrisome were it not for the fact that it can lead to murderous
constriction of the lifespan ambitions of those with more knowledge &
imagination than the bureaucrats.

The US Federal Drug Administration (FDA) refused to include life-
extension within its treatment categories -- refusing to acknowledge
that aging is a disease. For the FDA, everything that is not
acknowledged is prohibited. In imposing its narrow-minded rules upon
the lives of others, the FDA has waged a long & vicious battle
against the Life Extension Foundation (LEF,www.lef.org), in
particular (and those who could benefit from its products).

The Life Extension Foundation was founded by Saul Kent, a science
journalist with an intense desire to find means of slowing aging --
and ultimately of ending death. LEF studied scientific literature for
evidence of life-extending properties of vitamins and other
nutrients. The results of these researches were published in a
magazine (currently LIFE EXTENSION) and made available as products
through mail-order sales. Saul Kent has remained President, but Vice-
President William Faloon has effectively acted as CEO after Saul
began founding other new companies devoted to life-extension.

Shortly before opening-time on the morning of February 26, 1987
twenty-five armed Federal Drug Administration (FDA) agents & US
marshalls smashed thorough the glass doors of the Life Extension
Foundation store, simultaneously raiding the nearby warehouse in
Florida. With drawn guns, the agents lined LEF employees against the
wall while seizing products, literature, documents, computers and
personal effects -- more than 80% of which were not within the
authority of the search warrant.

Having lost most of their product inventory, LEF principals Saul Kent
& Bill Faloon were facing 5-to-20 years in prison. All the attorneys
they consulted recommended a guilty plea as the only possible means
of reducing prison time. Instead, Kent & Faloon fought back both in
the courts and through political action. A Political Coordinator's
Office was established at LEF. LEF members (numbering less than
5,000) cooperated with letters, FAXes and phone calls to political
leaders.

On January 9, 1991 the FDA raided the LEF Arizona Shipping Office
with the complicity of the Arizona Board of Pharmacy. A permanent
embargo was placed against all future shipments of 42 LEF products,
including Life Extension Mix and Coenzyme-Q10. Fifteen days after the
embargo, LEF lawyers handed a 300-page lawsuit to the Attorney
General of Arizona -- who promptly ordered the Pharmacy Board to lift
the embargo. The Pharmacy Board Director agreed that his agents would
take no future actions on behalf of the FDA without investigating
matters themselves first.

The FDA then threatened that Kent & Faloon would become the target of
criminal indictments that would "destroy their lives forever" and
were told to plead guilty of crimes against the state. Kent & Faloon
responded with a lawsuit against the FDA in a Florida District Court
seeking an injunction against discriminating prosecution.

On November 7, 1991 Kent & Faloon were arrested and thrown into an 8-
by-8 Fort Lauderdale jail cubicle containing several men charged with
drug-related crimes. Several hours later they were taken handcuffed
before a magistrate who informed them that they were charged with 28
criminal counts, including conspiracy to sell unapproved drugs. After
more hours in jail, they were released on $825,000 bail each.

Kent & Faloon retaliated by filing motions attacking the legal &
constitutional foundation of the indictment. They charged that the
FDA had illegally obtained the search warrant and had illegally
seized many items not on the warrant. They also filed a motion
charging that they were being selectively prosecuted by the FDA,
because AIDS Buyer's Clubs similarly informed their members of the
FDA policy of allowing importation of drugs for personal use.

Despite continued threats of more FDA indictments that could put Kent
& Faloon in jail for the rest of their lives, LEF became the first
company to offer pharmaceutical-grade Melatonin in the United States
in 1992. In 1994, LEF established the "FDA Holocaust Museum" to
document "the 70-year reign of terror that the FDA had perpetuated
against Americans".

In 1995 the FDA began exerting strong pressure to bring its lengthy
legal fight against the Life Extension Foundation to trial. The FDA
told Kent & Faloon that in exchange for a guilty plea they would not
have to go to prison and could continue doing business on a more
limited basis. The FDA wanted to censor the contents of LIFE
EXTENSION magazine and probably intended to "regulate" LEF by
limiting the products they could sell. Instead of pleading guilty,
Kent & Faloon filed a new battery of legal motions, escalated their
political attacks on the FDA and began extensive preparations for
their trial.

In November 1995, the FDA dropped all charges except the charge
of "obstruction of justice" against Saul Kent. In February, 1996 even
this charge was dropped. It was the first time in the history of the
FDA that the agency had given-up on a criminal indictment against a
political opponent.

Taking the principles of Chi-Kung, inventor Alex Chiu believes he
has found a way to allow the cells of our bodies to continiously
renew themselves... and he is willing to give this technology away
for free.

        As raw fooders, we look forward to enjoying the longer life that is promised to us.  We even may allow ourselves to savor the prospect of living forever that is offered by the immortalists.
        Regrettably, there is not a lot of support for those of us who want to live forever or die trying.  There is a definite body of opinion that we should not be allowed to extend our lives indefinitely:
        About twenty years ago, Richard Lamm, then governor of Colorado, said that older people had a duty to die and get out of the way.
        In 1987, Daniel Callahan, self-described as  “the nation's leading medical ethicist “ wrote a book called Setting Limits in which he advocated cutting off lifesaving medical care after a certain age (late seventies or early eighties, he said) to reduce the nation's health care costs.  (Obviously, Callahan didn’t think through the implications of his proposal.  If people knew ahead of time that they would be on their own for medical care after a certain age, they would have to go all-out to accumulate the money they might need.  Niceties like having children and giving to charity would have to go by the board. 
        Callahan hoped that people would come to accept the idea of an arbitrarily limited lifespan.  I doubt they would, but even if they did, I would be one of the last holdouts.  My life and my wife’s life are better now than they have ever been, and we want to make them last as long as we can.)
        There are those who would deny us life extension by suppressing research. In the early 1980's, Leon Kass, another well-known ethicist, gave a talk entitled  “Whether to Wither “ in which he argued against life extension, based on the inconvenience to society of having us live longer, as well as the supposed spiritual advantages of impending death. (Kass has recently been put in charge of the ethics of the stem-cell program.  I am not at all comfortable with somebody who thinks like that having control of this potentially life-extending research.)
        Betty Friedan, in her book The Fountain of Age, quoted (page 128):  “Dr Nancy Dubler, [a gerontological ethicist] said disapprovingly, 'I'm not sure the banishment of death to its furthest point is ever a good goal.  Perhaps there is an obligation on the part of the old to step aside and die in their time, and turn over their assets to the younger generation.'  Others expostulated, with visible agitation, that it wasn't fair to put that kind of burden on insurance companies, the Social Security system, the federal budget.  Some suggested that such research on extending the life span should not be encouraged, funded -- even permitted. “
        In 1994, Sherwin B. Nuland, in  “How We Die, “ wrote  “The lesson is never learned - there will always be those who persist in seeking the Fountain of Youth, or at least delaying what is irrevocably ordained.  There is a vanity in all of this, and it demeans us.  At the very least, it brings us no honor.  Far from being irreplaceable, we should be replaced.  Fantasies of staying the hand of mortality are incompatible with the best interests of our species and the continuity of humankind’s progress. “
        (Such party-poopers!  Just when the prize is coming in sight, they want to snatch it away!)
        In the May 1993 issue of Longevity magazine (page 51) the article  “The Bucks Stop Here - Why the Government Doesn't Want You to Live Longer “ said,  “'The public ought to know that their government is not trying to cure aging' says Richard Cutler, Ph.D. a gerontologist at the National Institute on Aging.  'The federal granting agencies haven't decided whether it is advisable to intervene in the normal aging process.  They're scared to death about the impact it might have upon the economy of the nation--too many old people around.'  Thomas Johnson, PhD., of the Institute for Behavioral Genetics at the University of Colorado, agrees.  'If the truth be known, Congress would be horrified to think that we might do something to extend our life span,' he observes.  'What are we going to do about entitlements?  To give people another ten years of Social Security--think of the horror it would create.' “
        (That's the downside of programs like Social Security and Medicare.  Although they do much to improve our lives, they give the government a financial stake in having us die quickly.  As Fanny Dashwood lamented in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility,  “people always live forever when there is any annuity to be paid them. “)
        Indeed, the government is putting a lot of money into research on degenerative diseases, from arthritis to Alzheimer's.  It's not that they love us, it's that they want to minimize the cost of taking care of us while we fade away.  I would certainly hope, though, that progress in dealing with those diseases would increase our expectancy of vigorous life, even if that is not the intent. 
        The most promising life-extension measures available to us at this time, raw foods, regular exercise and the care of an innovative bodyworker, cannot be given to us by the government, but fortunately cannot be taken away.  It's up to us, so let's get busy messing up Social Security's actuarial predictions by living longer than we're supposed to.
        I am shocked and angered, to say the least, that anyone would dare to deny me the longest possible lifespan.  I consider that tantamount to murder. It impels me all the more to redouble my efforts and dedicate my resources to keep my wife and myself alive as long as possible, in the best of health, in defiance of those who wish us dead.

raw food festival in Oregon. We forgot to mention anywhere our deep
appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful work that was done by
Victoria Jayne and a team of very few volunteers, including our own
Glenn Weinstein. We thank them for taking upon themselves this
burden, and we will try and give them more help with the next year's
International Festival of Raw and Living Food.

Yeah that's right. In the mytical world of Yoga, those Indian mystics
would teach altruism. Did you know magic originated from India. Those
mystics would trick people into seeing illusions.

Yet at the same time, it is proven that through yoga discipline you
can control your physical metabolism, even slow the heart rate down.
Ever watch that show "That's Incredible" or "Ripley's Believe it or
Not"? I've seen 'yogis' in their 70s who look like 50 year old
warriors. I think about 50 the body is really in prime condition.

This yogi would climb into a small glass box and remain locked inside
curled up while the heart and breathing rate slow. Think about the
mental control and power true yogis. They exhibit 'Neo-Tech' DTC
(Discipline Thought Control) of the physical body. So that is the
other *non*-mystical side of Yoga.

Do any of you space-travellers remember the Twilight Zone, not the
black-and-white but the color episodes from the 80's.

Man killer stuff...

Not because I am a lunatic, simply because I am processing extreme
amounts of ideas and conceptual information. It all integrates from
the wide-scope.

Back to *the point, altruism as it is defined is a very self-
destructive place to be.

It is NOT simply "giving" to others, although it could be and seen as
a positive with rational self-interest in mind.

It is giving while under a "spell", and depleting one's energy
reserves whatever that may be. While giving, the self is neglected
(sin), haha, that's the reeeal sin, and the survival of the _species_
is made primary, ABOVE the self, which is basically how mortality and
the Darwinian model of evolution work.

I guess if such copying were possible, there is no more reason we
persist in identical body. Before that discussion, how to copy! The
network of neurons is as intricate as that of internet. As for as
this trouble exists, true immortality never comes true like the case
of maromolecule repair.

Previously i stated memory reset by brain exchange. I think even if
physically identical (clone), unless identical mentally, strategy of
permanent life span by stem cell is of failure. Copying seems
impossible. Can anyone this problem?

Personally i conclude we do age by cellular protein denature rather
than DNA damage. In the case of cancer, DNA damage is prior to
proteins'. I am quite indignant since our bodies are of "rate of
damages > rate of their convalesce" about putative macro molecules.
Reversing the balance is maybe as difficult as stopping time! As long
as the problem subsists, eternal lifespan by macromolecule repair
system is impossible. So stem cell is solution. I wait for any other
opinion.

At first sorry for my haughty asseveration. I believe the stem cell can
conduce to immortality. Needless to say, to replace decrepit parts with
artificially generated ones. But if so, we will have to do it in periods
where bodily parts or organs decline (perhaps span of every 50 years or
more). Furthermore the problem is maybe cerebral function of memorial
stock. Possible new brain is equipped with no knowledge or skill like
language and technique for special performance previous one has obtained.
The new brain of the one is exactly same with that it had in its age of a
baby!

to see SCIENCE discover that control of one's gene-expression is
directly related to the degree of awareness of one's conscioussness,
by that we mean- to become more aware as a species, we evolve.

However I see evolution not only being limited to offspring.

So that's why when science discovers there is a link we will then
recognize the function of genes in controlling the body's homeostatic
conditions.

And I'd like to know if any research has been done with the genetic
makeup of defective cells that reproduce new cells which are by their
nature highly destructive to normal functioning cells.

For example, if a cancer cell replicates, that new cancer cell passes
on its genetic information which then replicates more of the same,
repeating the destructive cycle, like a meme. This proves, if I am

H. Keith Henson was one of the founders, and first president of the
L5 Society, now merged with the National Space Society. During L5's
successful fight against the Moon Treaty he testified before
