ponch here: You know, don't really matter as long as it works. Used a wafer
myselfwhen I first started but had to switch brands so the darn thing would stay
on. So no wafer no more. started out with a regular bag including wafer, but
this body has to many scars in the area of the ring. ET nurse came up with the
idea of useing some strips of paste instead. It worked to. Still useing it to,
works real nice.By the way I've only had the appliance not even two years yet.
Richard, don't think thiers a power or a medicne for the rash or soreness. I
don't think its common either. By the way you diden't say how long between
changes and are you active. Better quit I'am starting to sound like a Dr..

the stoma paste, and it makes a sore ring around the stoma when I use it (Ive
had an ostomy since 1995) I just use the wafer (two piece system, convatec) I
don't get sore as long as I don't use the stoma paste

tale! When I was taught to apply the barrier it was pointed out that
one needs to apply a ring of Stomapaste near the opening I make in
the barrier, to aid adhesion. (The nurse told me this). Some time ago
I forgot to do this and my soreness disappeared. I have not used the
paste since and have not had any more soreness. Sometimes it pays to
be forgetful! Richard.
