Hi Everyone,
My name's Jeanette, I'm from Australia. I was diagnosed with a very low rectal
cancer 2 years ago, when I was 44. My best chance of a complete cure was to have
an abdomino perineal resection. So now I have a permanent colostomy. I'm not
complaining, because the alternative, as you know, was death. Now I get to watch
my kids grow up and I can continue with the obsession that is my hobby,
Astronomy.
My latest health issue are my hernias. One on my belly next to "the triffid",
the other is where my bum used to be. I'm going in for my first pre-op visit
with my surgeon on the 27th of July. Not looking forward to having old wounds
opened up. But the hernias aren't going to heal themselves now are they. I keep
looking beyond the surgery and post op healing to when I'm finally better.
I just need to remember that there are LOT'S of people in this world who are
infinitely worse off than I am.
Thanks for reading.
Jeanette
