Hi there Joe, Ann here.
Wow, I think you're the first person I've chatted with in a long time that has
had their ostomy longer then me!! 30 years? You must remember the United Ostomy
Association then. Did you ever go to any of the national conferences?
My first national conference was the one held in New Orleans in 1988! I had a
blast and loved meeting all the people who also had ostomies. Life with an
ostomy can and has been interesting at times but never boring or sad.
Since I was so young at the time of my first surgery I decided that it was much
better to be alive then dead and having that attitude has helped me become the
person I am today. Of course I've had my up and down moments, we all do. My
ostomy is and has been part of who I am and I thank God that I'm alive.
Do you have any other siblings? I also have an older sister and brother but they
live in Florida. I'm here in Connecticut, where are you located?
I do hope this helps you out a little. I have yahoo and msn instant messenger
programs if you'd like to chat that way sometime. My screen name for yahoo is
this email address that you have. Add me on to your contact list and perhaps we
can chat there.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Ann

Hello everyone.
My name is Ann and I've been an ostomate now for almost 23 years! I've
gone through and survived many things that could happen to a person
with a ostomy. And all within the first 2 years of having my initial
1st surgery.
I was married for 9 years and then separated for 7 years. Before the
separation occurred we had a child and he's now 12 going on 45!! I am
also a single full time parent to him.
As for work, well I used to drive a school bus. Since April of '07
though I haven't been working. I had a total knee replacement in July
of '07, hence the reason I stopped working.
That's all for now folks, feel free to email here and I'll answer you
all when I can.!
Have a blessed day! Ann
