Actually an ostomy can be one of many. Colostomy is colon connection
ileostomy is ilieum connection, urostomy is Ureters in some cases it
is an they take part of the colon or ilieum to connect the bladder.
If you are having pain I would start w/ the ET or WOCN nurses to see
who to talk to. It may be the Surgeon you end up speaking w/.
You can have phantom pains like someone who has lost a limb may have
pain even tho' the limb is no longer there. It may be neurological
that some nerves may have been damage and it may take a while to
heal. Or it could be something totally unrelated. Depending on what
is left of the rectal opening may be they will need to remove that
as well. I have an ileostomy due to ulcerative colitis and the
rectum was removed and the opening closed up. Again your best start
would be to find an Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) to start.

now you say you have an Illieostomy? I'm confused which is it? I'm
not sure which is which now?

intestins you then have an Ostomy. I they took out all of the big &
small intestens then it is an Illieostomy? Correct? I know that my
buttock is closed and my "Colostomy"is on my Left Side. I think
that is what they call an Ostomy? Yes???? You also said your
surgery was in 2001? how old are you? Where do you live?
