I JUST GOT HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL TODAY AND BOY AM I
SORE!!! The surgeon was able to reverse my ileostomy and I can now
defecate on my own!!! He also fixed my hernia,untwisted my gut and
removed a severed appendix caused from the hernia!! I also got a
tummy tuck so I got the 4 for 1 special deal LOL.I sure am hurting
tonight though!!! Also for anyone facing a future reversal,be
prepared for some serious diahrea!!! This is treated with lomotil and
DOES improve once the colon gets used to functioning again.Also be
prepared for colic and crampiness for awhile.I suppose now I will
have to unsub as I am no longer an ostomate?? I will stay and give
advice if the group and it's owners let me??? Boy did this surgery
HURT!!! Sometimes NO PILL will help it seems.Well,considering I am
recovering from periotinitis on top of it(caused by the torn
appendix) it's no wonder I hurt!! I spent a week in the surgical ward
but still feel the ostomy surgery itself was the hardest!! My colon
woke up rather quickly after the reversal and let ALL know about it
with farts sneaking out and loud obnoxiuos rumbling!!! I got quite
embarrassed when the nurses heard a long sneaky fart I tried to
supress!!I was put on strong IV antibiotics for the periotinitis but
my tummy still hurts quite a bit!! ALL of my intestines hurt and are
inflamed since they needed untwisting!! I was informed over half my
colon and sm bowel were trapped in the hernia!!! Glad I did NOT wait
for my OLD surgeon to fix this!!!It would have killed me they say!!
My new surgeon is very good at what he does and very sympathetic when
it comes to pain!! Anyhow I am glad it is finally over!!! 2 years of
suffering and blockegages!! WHo needs that?? I will be glad to chat
with any who want to nkow more about reversal surgery. BTW--- I NOW
HAVE A WHOLE BUNCH OF HOLLISTER FLEXTEND LOCK N ROLL
POUCHES,SEALS,ADHESIVE REMOVER AND A BUNCH OF OTHER OSTOMY
