HELLO fellow ostomates!! I am to have reversal surgey of my ostomy and
hernia repair at the same time.GI says the hernia is now incarcerated
and needs repair.we discussed take down of stoma,since stoma is NOT
needed!! Problem of neurogenic bowel been resolved with sacral nerve
stimulator. My question is:what are the chances for being able to have
2yr old stoma reversed?? Does anyone know what side effects I can
expect from reversal/increased motility?? Does anyone know some one
who has had this type of surgery?? Will the colon take over its former
function or is this going to be a problem causing MORE PAIN than what
i have now??? GI says raversals r effective about 70% of the time.I
sure hope mine can be reversed even though it is not a loop ostomy,I
HATE living with a bag and want to be normal!!! People look down upon
me cause i have an ostomy and a HUGE lopsided hernia!! GI says either
get hernia fixed or it WILL kill me!!! It blocks constantly so he put
a temporary plastic stent in it till surgery.I AM SO SCARRED!!! The
ostomy surgery almost killed me and i am a high surgical risk!! This
is NOT an elective surgery,but an urgent one. HELP!!!!
