HELLO, Hope you're all doing well!! I am currently pondering a couple
of options my surgeon gave me,regarding my yet intact colon. Since I
am now treating a severe case of diversion colitis and dealing with a
sticture in my sigmoid colon, which makes expelling mucus dificult!! My
colorectal surg knows I want the ostomy reversed, but is relectant to
do so given my dx of dysmotility with pelvic floor dysfunction and
outlet obstuction. He said I could either A- get the entire colon
removed, which would cause me pelvic pain and incontinence.OR B-have a
colonic stent inserted into the sigmoid to relieve the obstuction and
continue w/ the short chain fatty acid enemas. This would cause
cramping in the sigmoid due to the presence of a foreign object inside
the lower colon. Then he would reverse the stoma, but NOT if I refuse
insertion of the stent. I have known people who have these stents in
their colon and some are satisfied with it in place. I must say,the
whole idea of a foreign object left in my colon for good creeps me
out,but I do want the stoma reversed,as it has been a HUGE pain in the
rear(and belly)for me!!! email comments to :joakabridgefreak THANX!!!
