I just had my colostomy done in January and talk about trouble, It would leak
and it would irritate my skin and I was miserable, then I started doing research
and talking to every nurse at every supply company. I found that my stoma is not
out away from the skin as far as it should be so I went to the deep convex pouch
and until my skin healed I used the eakin seal ( made by convatex ) and I could
mold it so close around the stoma that we would cut the wafer just a little
bigger and bury it in the eaken seal and that really worked. Now I change every
four or five days and I also use the gas release seal and now I am real happy
with it. I fought the surgery tooth and nail but now I would not go back for
anything. Plus the cancer is gone and I am now taking chemo to make sure it does
not come back. I hope this helps because it took a long painful time to
discover the cure. Also there is a patch called 3210 and it also can go under
the pouch and that will help the skin
heal also.It is made by coloplast. Judy Good Luck !!!!!!!

Subject: [peoples with ostomy2] aarrgghh.....I hate this thing!
...I had my ileostomy way back in 1984. The doctor said then, "Don't
worry, in 6 monthes you'll be used to it, and no one will even notice."
Well, now here we are 23 years later, and I'm still not used to it,
and EVERYBODY notices...
I had tried for a reversal surgery but I had two surgeons
tell me I was not a good candidate for the operation. So, what's a guy
to do....
