Re: [peoples with ostomy2] aarrgghh.....I hate this thing!

Kevin

I don't know that we ever 'be used to it'. I have days I forget I have my
ileostomy and days that I seem to notice it constantly. In my case it seems
to depend on what I am eating that day.

Would I love to not have this ileostomy - oh yes! But I don't have that
option. I was dying (doc said I had about 4 hours left when he took me in
for emergency surgery) and they took everything. I have nothing to reverse
it to. Am I grateful that I have my ileostomy - oh yes! If I hadn't had
this surgery, I would not have gotten to know MANY, MANY wonderful people
who live through the same thing I do on a daily basis; and most importantly
to me, I would never have had the pleasure of loving three grandchildren who
have been born since my surgery and we have a new grandchild due in
November.

So, you ask... "What's a guy to do?" Focus on the positive aspect of your
life. The things you CAN do now that you couldn't before your surgery. Focus
on the fact that you ARE STILL HERE. I've been asked on many occasions what
my favorite day is. It's every day I wake up to enjoy the rain, sunshine,
snow, stress, frustration, smiles, etc. that come my way. Remember, without
the bad days... how would you ever know when you had a good day?

If you would like to talk abut particular things that you're having
difficulty dealing with, I'm willing to listen. E-mail me if you'd like.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Angel hugs

Tina
