Hi RIchard:
my name is Bob, I am 57 and have had a continent diversion urostomy since April
1997. Although my pouch is internal and I insert a catheter to drain. I know
what you mean about being nervous and worried. My wife has never adjusted to my
having this surgery. Yet my daughters and friends have been terrific without
them I could not have gotten thru it. I used to hide the fact that I had to use
catheters and was "different". But thanks to this site and some others I am much
more comfortable with the situation. I have found that there are support groups
which include family members, girlfriends or just friends. Maybe that would be
something you and your girlfriend could attend. I think if you are up front with
her you might be pleasantly surprised. Keep your head up.
