LOL it is. It's gotten rusty, though. And native level doesn't mean one can
translate back; translation is a skill set all its own. Which really miffs
locals who want to know how to say xyz in English. A lot just can't be
translated.

No kidding. I'm still learning what to eat, and after 7 months finally getting
a little less panicky when I eat something he used to lecture about. OMG. He
didn't make rules about things per se - that would have been too active!
Marie-France Hirigoyen's book _Stalking the Soul_ just came out in paperback.
(Hardcovers were going for over $200 while it was OOP!) Some of the language is
pretty harsh, b/c the author is a victimologist and her target audience was the
justice system. If you can get past that terminology though, it's an amazing
book about what these "nice guys" do to ravage our sense of right to existence.
I've only seen a page or two of the English translation, and it seemed to lose
in translation, but overall it's probably worth a look.
Now that I'm not in contact w/ the guy (but have to get through the divorce
paperwork sometime) I'm frustrated w/ myself for not getting up and having a
life. Painful. At least I'm not replacing him with a new jerk, but I've taken
over the role he played for years.
