I second and third etc. all the responses about using family-centric growth
charts. My family marked our growth (that of my older AH brother and me) on
the door jamb with a pencil. It was matter of fact and in retrospect, I can
see that it never occurred to me that it could be a negative thing. We lived
in that house for my entire childhood. I agree that it would be more risky
in a school setting. My son Jani and I did one for him for a while on a
poster type thing but it got ripped here and there and he didn't seem too
attached to it so it didn't survive our move 2-3 years ago, although I tried to
salvage parts of it, to his amusement.
