It has been about 3.5 years since my car accident. I was broadsided
by someone running a red light and for the past three and half
years, I have suffered on and off, motly on, and now definitely on
by now, with chronic pain from thoracic outlet syndrome and severe
TMJ problems. I also have "snapping scapula" which has taken me all
this time for someone to diagnose properly, resulting in some old
dr. telling me the only way to fix it is to cut off a tip of my
scapula. Ridiculous!
Anyway, I have had TOS surgery and three TMJ surgeries but my pain
is ultimately worse than it ever was with both conditions and for
the past six months or so, physical therpay and massage have been
denied by Sloane's Lake Managed Care. I have been upgraded to
stronger pain medications but I am so tired from them, I can hardly
function.
More than a few dr.s have suggested pt or massage therapy for me and
it has all been denied. My dr. recently wrote my insurance a letter
stating that I am in desperate need of some kind of PT and massage
to help increase functioning and reduce pain. She says they have
rejected the faxes and sent the letter back. Her ultimate statement
to them was if you don't feel this is necessary then she needs pain
management.
I also suffer from clinical depression and the stress of all this
plus the chronic pain has me extremely stressed out which is not
helping. I am in the proceedings of litigation against my own
insurance compnay and I am wondering what to do abou this inadequate
care thing. I am going to have my lawyer call the adjuster about
this issue but I am about ready to go to war. I am so hurt and
miserable by now with all this.
Thanks,
Catherine
