Dear Randy hi!
I am novice-new in this terrific group here myself, a real 'freshman', and a (n eager) learner - but suggest: look to human rights as well as civil rights to open those doors wider for you, who champion not only for yourself but so many others as well on the Net.
I'll get some front-door access pages up on how the U.N. Treaty for Disabilities (Protection of Rights and Dignity) may help; and invite your interest. Realistically, these treaties can take many years for nations to sign on to the text now just beginning to be drafted as such; but the agreements on goals and elements already having consensus may help right now. I've been present as they are gaveled in. Thrilling! And the benefits should be reaped now.
) LindaMF. P.S. If I can help with legal papers let me know, just help; I have human rights disability issues before state and federal courts right now.
P.S. Copied to some other fine groups where Social Security issues arise, to give notice of these splendid resources.

Hi! (Especially Linda M. F.) :-)
I am hearing impaired, have mental problems, and minor physical problems.
I had applied in 1994 for SSI / SSDI and was rejected.
I then re-applied in 1999 and went through the appeals process with a lawyer
and lost. The last letter indicated I could file a civil lawsuit as a
course of action but don't know about it and whether it would do any good?
I'm re-applying for SSI but based on mental problems first since SSI doesn't
cover hearing loss unless I was essentially deaf.
