ISSUES: Views ? and Reviews ? / " Mental Health Parity"   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #454 of 857 |
ISSUEShould mental health matters be backed by the same or similar insurance coverage as for physical health? ( A different topic is the "mind/body" connection issue, deserving its own forum status of course, so feel free to post your own ISSUES: Views"  and Reviews ?topic, or *watch this space.*

VIEWS

1.  e.g. YES:  Lack of access to insurance and other stigmatizing economic and attitudinal effects flows from benefits  not being provided where people want to access mental health care resources for themselves and/or their families. Not al people have insurance, but even if they do, it might only cover  access to "physical" care.

2.  e.g. NO -  More and more people with situational stress will be labeled mentally ill and this will track them all their lives.

REVIEWS: This topic when discussed seems to get lots of debate.  Not a luke warm topic, either; reviews run strong and can "generate heat."  (< = individual observation, not statistical note).

FURTHER: What would YOU consider true mental health "parity," or equality, or equivalence?

:) TIA for posts, LindaMF.

Subject: [DisabilityParty] ISSUES: Views ? and Reviews ? / Introduction

Greetings NDP ALL and other fine folks:

Just launching a subject line on ISSUES: Views ? and Reviews ?,  it's hoped that we can reach deep into our query pockets with the great news of having acceptance by Ed Carraway of the Election Liason position in the National Disability Party http://www.disabilityparty.com, http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/disabilityparty .

Do different thoughts on particular subjects populate your mind at times?

Let's look at some issues together from whatever angle; Internet search results and items on particular topics as well as spontaneous reactions ( which can change from day to day, like life itself) all welcome.

I'll post soon on a topic where views seem to be polarized or at least widely varying.  But go ahead and start if something comes to mind!.

Sending  warm Wednesday regards to all,

:) LDMF.

PS: If the topics cause you to feel strongly but "words seem to fail," just jot something down to be shared!  Again, "nothing here written in stone except that nothing is written in stone" even if someone else considers a perspective outrageous!
