Hello'
I am new to the group and will be grateful for any support. I am
a 41 year old male teacher of vhildren with special needs. I am
impacted by many invisible disabilities as defined by the ADA. I have
fibromyalgia,trigerminal nueralgia,arthritic knees, a partially fused
hip, chronic inflamation in my hip, soft tissue injuries in my
nondominant wrist and asthma. I am on a pharmacy full of medications
and must cope constantly with the side effects.
I work in an urban public school with behaviorally disordered
children. I had difficulty seeking accomodations in my workplace and
ending up filing a complaint with the equity office of my school
department. The principal has engaged in acts of retaliation IE.
assigning me an assisstant who can not restrain children even though
the population has a high probability of threatening the safety of
self and others, openly informing others of my disability,
threatening disciplanary action if I physically intervene with
children...AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK, and speaking to me about my disability
in an intiminating and degrading tone) Her latest move has been to
have me administratively reassigned by pressuring staff into signing
statements alleging sexual harassment. The administrative
reassignment has allowed my pain levels to soar and is cruel and
unusual punishment. I am confident the allegations against me will be
found to be without merit but I can not allow her actions to go
without seeking justice. I have four chidren and a wife who is only
now reentering the workforce due to cancer so money is extremely
tight and lawyers are expensive. Can anyone give me suggestions?????
