Explanation of Prior 3 posts, from Internet Kiosk in Hospital / and   Message List

Dear Friends,

In for a bone-scan today (and that's a whole 'nother story, seeing yourself and disabilities laid out like that - have you had one?) I happened by computer (Internet) kiosks, or booths. There were 3 units: one in the E.R., one in Intensive care, and one in the Cafeteria.  That is the one I used.  With the traditional cybernik's cup of black coffee akimbo.

I reached Yahoogroups. This was done not with a mouse, but with a touch pad.  I think that with a little time that could go smoothly.  But two problems were:  the email only took about an inch-wide of text; there were long waits between accepted input from the kjeyboard.  Naturally, the thing to do was to put dollar bills into the machine.  It reminded me so very much of slot machines.  Keep stuffing currency,  you might get lucky.

I tried going to netmail rather than posting from the yahoogroups home webpage but similar patterns occurred.

It is good to know that someone to whom the Web and email are staple and who goes into a hospital can stay connected, but this particular "puppy" only whined, not yet barking.  It was easy to see how checking for a piece of email that was coming in would be readable efficiently.  But it was hard to see how the composition process could be achieved with any ease.

Just so far.

We can treasure these early instances, and look forward to improvements.

I heard that in Spain there are post office public, Internet  terminals, though I do not know the range of services or access opportunities.

How about around where you live?

:) L.
