URGENT! Do You Want Change
VOICES will continue to fight the legislature on workers compensation issues in
Tallahassee in the traditional means. However injured workers do not have time to play all the political games that are required to get decent legislation on our behalf. There is a way around the Legislators and the Governor but it will take a lot of work on our part. This method will alleviate the problems that we have with the committees changing the days they will meet on Comp and the days they will accept testimony from the average person. It is a fact that it takes an average of seven years to get a bill through the legislature. We don't have seven years to reform this system and we can't keep just trying to hold our own and stop the bad legislation waiting for the legislators to throw us a bone of something good in a bill. So now I ask you this. How determined are you? I am in the process of getting a petition drafted to call for a referendum vote on workers compensation. I will need to get a minimum of 100,000 signatur!

es in a week. Now we can sit and moan and groan about how bad our government is and how bad the comp system is or we can do something about it. I say let's do something about it. Let's take this issue into our own hands. Not only do I ask the people of the state of Florida to do this but I ask all states to do the same. I ask that all attorneys, doctors, therapists, unions, injured workers and advocates back me in this. I ask you to let me know who is with me and is willing to put a sincere effort into this. You can either call or e mail me back channel or you can post to the list. I need you to get your family and friends involved in helping with this. Go to your churches, your clubs and anywhere you can think of to get support and help on this. As you have people sign the petitions be sure they show you their voters registration cards. Their signatures do not count if they are not registered voters. Anyone who does !

I will send a copy of the petition to those who really want to do something about the comp system. If you are tired of waiting on your government then take your government on by taking this issue into your own hands. Please contact me ASAP if you are willing to participate in this. Also put this info on the Internet to reach as many people as possible. My phone stays pretty tied up so if you don't get me leave a message and I will call you back.

There is a lot of support around this state on this. Several unions have already committed to participate in this. We can do this but it will take us all to make a difference.
