Re: High Proportion of Income going to Medical Expenses - was Re: [pain-in-the-law] Introduction

Hi:

Thanks for the response.

On the IRS matter I had so many medical expenses that
I do get back every penny the IRS took out of my
pension check but that wasn't very much to begin with
so it doesn't help that much. LOL

The only way I can find to cover my medical expenses
is Medicaid/Medicare or Badger Care and because I am
in the middle of the SSD/SSI mess and haven't been
approved yet, plus I don't have any dependent children
needing medical assistance I have been turned down for
all of them.

I have been through the State site with a fine tooth
comb and have found nothing here in WI that I qualify
for due to my lack of children.

My initial application for SSD/SSI benefits was denied
after 8 months of "consideration" and I immediately
applied for a reconsideration. That request went in on
Feb. 5th and I got a letter yesterday saying that they
received it and didn't need any additional information
from me BUT that it will be 6-8 more weeks until they
will be able to START the process of reviewing it to
make a decision. I figure now it will be approx.
another 6 months before they decide to deny me again
(which as I understand it is normal on a request for
reconsideration) and then probably yet another 6
months before an ALJ hearing can be scheduled.

This is all very relevant because if I can just get
declared as disabled by the SSA then I will be
eligible for the Medicaid/Medicare to assist with at
least my medical expenses and possibly some of my
other expenses.
Unfortunately in the mean time I risk loosing my home
because I have not been able to keep up with the
mortgage payments, having no heat or electric, etc.

Thank you for the compliment. I guess I have gotten to the point where I naturally spell things out completely after all the reports I did as a Police Officer....
