I am currently working in Queen's Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi, under a
British trained Professor of paediatric surgery - he is the only paediatric
surgeon for the entire population of 12 million people, so the caseload is
huge and varied, and the pathology sometimes sectacular. I am getting
excellent training, and operating 5 days a week does wonders for the
surgical confidence, though dealing with adults on call does sometmes test
the boundaries of my experience.

My 6 months here is not being recognised for training, but the post may be
in the future. Please contact me if you want any further details, as the
department could do with an extra pair of hands!
