Re: [paediatricsurgerytrainees] BAPES TRAINEES DAY 6th NOVEMBER 2006

Hi
thank you for your e-mail and for your effort to ask for suggestions concerning our training. i think it is a good idea to have a  session during the BAPES meeting. however we should have a bit more advanced techniques as i think the time of basic understanding of the diathermy usage, the basic principles ... these are basically obsolete as most of us are now involved in relatively more advances laparoscopic surgery.
also we don't want to have a significantly wide gap between the advanced level of the BAPES meeting and the basic level of our lectures.
for the price is it possible to use simulater, or practice with robot, or even animal or animal parts for more realistic practice

i was shoked to hear Americans saying that they don't use laparscopy anymore as it is outdated and use essentially robot. so we need to be more involved in robot or at least advanced laparoscopy.

is it also possible to have a certificate of course completion as it is more legal document requested now in other country when using laparoscopy - in case there are complications in our day or future practice  -

i hope this could be of any use.

yours laparoscopically ( or robotically )

Nordeen

Subject: [paediatricsurgerytrainees] BAPES TRAINEES DAY 6th NOVEMBER 2006

Dear Colleagues,
I have been asked to get some feedback by BAPES(British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons)
on the matter of a Trainees day clubbed with the annual meeting and live operating workshop comprised of a
series of lectures in the morning ( basic principles, diathermy usage, complications, possibly anaesthesia,
basic instruments) with an afternoon of workstations ( company representatives demonstrating their
equipment with questions and answers, and trainer boxes - depending on demand).
6/11/06 Trainees Day
7/11/06 Annual Meeting
8/11/06 Live Operating Workshop

The whole day would cost around £75

All this depends on if there is going to be sufficient interest!

I would be very grateful if you would let me know your interest by the 6th of June 2006.
You could reply to the same forum or send me an email at acnmac@...

Thank you
Abraham Cherian
