I'd be grateful for as many replies as possible to this (email me
with responses)
With MMC about to start taking effect, one of my concerns is how
future paediatric surgeons will enter our profession given the much
reduced experience as HO/SHO level. This may be an unfounded fear,
but, for exapmple, for ages I wanted to be a brain surgeon until I
did paed surg as part of a rotation and loved it.
So, answers on an email please:

When did you form a firm intention to enter paediatric surgery? sho

If so, what? yes, never thought about paeds until stumbling across it by chance, was going to be a 'general' surgeon, possible lower gi
When did you change your mind? during my penultimate bst rotatoin job in paeds surgery
What changed it? the variety and interesting surgeries, the paediatric work environment, the surgeons, the kids
Any other comments about choice of paed surgey as a career or
influences on your choice?would not have been here today if paeds surgery wasnt on my bst rotation - did not particularly enjoy paeds at med school and would otherwise never have given it a thought
