Those of you starting SpR training in the last couple of years will
probably have been stung for £100 per year from the JCHST. Many,
many people have thought this was unfair and introduced with no
consultation...
Well, thanks to a lot of work and complaining by ASIT, the folowing
has been announced:
Some good news for a change.
The Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England discussed a
paper proposed by John Black together with others including myself
and
Ian McDermott amongst others.
We on RCS England Council were well aware of the adverse impact of
the
£100 a year fee to pay the JCHST.
We today agreed in principle that the English College will refund
the
£100 fee that any of paid up member/fellow of the English College
has
paid to the JCHST.
The details need to be worked out but I think that it is important
that
you realise that we at RCS Eng do listen to you.

Essentially, England RCS trainees should get a £100 discount from
their fees, if they have paid JCHST. This is a big step, but it
means that non England college members should start complaining to
their respective colleges now!
It also emphasises the importance of ASIT as a voice for UK
trainees, so it is worth joining.
Have a nice weekend
