Hi Linda, I'm sorry you're having problems after all these years.
Wearing a heart monitor is awkward, but you can shower and do whatever
you usually do, so it's not limiting at all.Do not worry about having
a stress test. I, too, as a bit freightened when I learned that I had
to have one last year. I fretted over it unnecessarily. Although you
might consider the shot of dye invasive, it is far better for the
doctor to have a look at your heart than not. The stress test
involves walking on a tread mill for a certain amount of time (only
minutes). It will then be slightly elevated and you will continue
walking. The technician or your doctor will know when to stop at
which time you will slow down gradually. All the while you'll be
hooked up to a machine so that your heart may be monitored. There is
another portion of the test where you'll be asked to lie quietly on a
table for a few minutes and the technician will again be looking at
pictures of your heart. At least that's the way it was for me. Do it.
You'll be much relieved afterwards. Buckstone
