Re: first post - to have an ablation or not?

HI Scotty,

I'm 51. I was in your position last June and choose to have an
ablation rather than go on antiarrythmic meds. I had suffered with
AF for 20 years and the episodes finally were only a couple days
apart. I could no longer work (trumpet player).

The ablation did not fix my AF. Curently considering Flecanide.
And am currently scheduled for another in Aug. They now estimate
85% successful after the second ablation. I was told that percent
applied after the first ablation. So as you can see it is anyone's
guess what is the actual figure.

My advice is that the ablation doctor is key. Go to only the very
best. I have a family friend who has been a coma for years after a
bad ablation.

After my ablation the only sacry moments were when my vision went
strange. That happened twice. I could not see in the center of my
vision.

That being said if I had been fixed I would have been the first to
urge you to have an ablation. After the ablation the hope of having
been cured was almost worth having the procedure. It's amazing how
this condition controls your life.

If you choose to have an ablation figure that you will have to have
a second one that way you won't be so very dissapointed when the
ugly dragon raises his head again.

blessings...Alex
