Hello Anthony. I take flecainide and have for over six months now.
I find it MUCH better than the profaferone I was using. I took a
combo of diliatiazem and profaferone after a 3 day bout in the the
hospital. It kept the a-fib away but I was a changed person...a total
nervous wreck with shaking hands etc. I "put up" with this at the
time and know now I should have been on the phone after trying it for
a week to my Dr. Anyway with the profaferone I had so much thumping
and pounding of my heart. I finally told the Dr I could not live like
this anymore and he had me see the EP doc who switched me to
Flencainde. Then he took me off the diliatiazem and now I feel
better than I have in a long time. I have had a few spells of
pounding and two of a-fib...none lasted very long. I understand you
have to have a healthy heart to take flecainide and I am scheduled
for a routine stress test in November or December. I may ask that to
be pushed back until after the holidays. I take 2 flecainide 100mg a
day. No mention of being taken off. I did get off Celexa though and
feel good about that. All these meds..pretty soon you aren't
yourself anymore if we're not careful!!! I haven't asked the Dr.
about taking an extra dose if I'm in a-fib. Not a bad idea!
Hope all is well with you! Mary Liz
