Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today signed a bill banning smoking in Wisconsin
bars, restaurants, and work places. The ban takes effect July 2010. The state
Senate passed the measure 25-8 and the Assembly passed it 61-38. The state law
is pre-emptive; that is, localities are not allowed to pass stricter laws.
