Can anyone relate to this situation or give advice? My 21 year old daughter had
a section of
colon removed on Sept 23 2008, she had to go back into surgery on Oct 3 to redo
entire
incision because of it not healing from steroid use. She came home a few weeks
later and
was readmitted with an abcess, had it drained with a catheter for 5 days and has
now been
home for 9 days. Incision is almost totally healed and she has gotten somewhat
used to
cleaning and care of stoma, bags etc.. The only thing that wont go away is the
nausea, she
has been nauseated for the last 6 days and we have had home health nurse out to
show us
how to irrigate because they thought constipation was the cause of it. That
didnt do much so
nurses had us go to er, where she was rehydrated and got a scan to make sure she
had no
blockages, all came back ok. After laxatives and irrigation finally had several
bags of output
Friday night, but nausea has not abated at all. The only time she isnt nauseated
is first thing
in the morning. But as soon as she eats anything it starts over and contintues
all day,
whether or not she eats anything else. She just finished flagyl from the abcess.
Only
medication she is on regularly is protonix in the morning and anti depressant at
night.
Other things she is trying is phenegram, and zofran. Nothing is helping.
