Hi Cody, In response to your questions. I have a life now cause of my
ileostomy. It is so nice to be able to go skiing, swimming, biking and so many
other things that I had taken away from me for so many years due to ulcerative
colitis and now they say crohns. I have had different sexual relationships and
if they like you it doesn't matter what you look like. Of course you are going
to wonder. I still do, but if you have a problem with it then so will other
people. I don't hide that I have an ileostomy. And if people want to see it or
know about it I show them and or tell them. I can wear a bikini or fitted
clothes and you can't tell , I just have to wear my waistline a little higher
than before. Things take a little time to adjust to having it but I wouldn't
turn back time now other than to have gotten it sooner. If you want to talk
email me at cosmo3@.... Take care and enjoy having a life Corrina

Subject: [Ostomates Support] Re: I am thinking about getting a colostomy
Cody,
In response to your questions about having a ostomy whether it be a
colostomy or ileostomy, I have to agree with Mike, I have had my
ileostomy for 23+ yrs and from the first week of my ostomy I wouldn't
ever go back... I was a young 12 yr old when I had my surgery. I have
dated, had intimate relationships and am married. As far as the
intercourse goes, again Mike hit the nail on the head when you find
the right partner and you know they care about you they will
understand and be happy that your healthy.. I find people will react
however you react to it.. If your positive and upbeat about your
choice and your ostomy they will reflect that... I am amazed by how
many people I have shared with the fact I have an ostomy and they
don't believe me. You need to take back your LIFE Cody. I don't have
any regrets and I don't know of any ostomates that do. That doesn't
mean we don't have bad days but even our worst days are better then
your best while your having all the problems.. Were here for you
Cody, ask lots of questions and yes consult a E.T. nurse, there
priceless...
Blessings,
Shannon
