Hi. I'll echo what everyone else has said -- demand the docs sit down with
you and tell you what the possibilities could be and what they are doing to
understand what's happening.

After my surgeries, I've had a 7-14 day waiting period before I could take
anything by mouth. The gut really doesn;t like to be handled....other things
going on could be low grade infection...perhaps, too, the gut getting used to
compensating for piece that's been removed. If they are concerned enuf to move
him to ICU, there is clearly *something* to be concerned about. If the docs
won't sit with you after you've asked them, contact the hospital's social worker
or the patient representative and ask them to help you get more info.
