Professor Dan, an Australian, ( ? Dan the Ozzie Man.) has published
this little gem in The Journal of Clinical Neuroscience.
His study claims that Impressionism had its roots in the chance
coming together of a whole bunch of myopic or short sighted painters.
From the records of the time showing the myopic eye problems of
painters such as Renoir, Cezanne, Pisarro, Degas, Matisse and Rodin
he postulates this could explain why they were heavy users of
particular colours including red.
And old 'Dan the man' also claims Vinnie Van Gough's characteristic
images such as rings around the sun and wavy cornfields were caused
by digitalis which he took to treat his mania and epilepsy.
Cheers for now
