Adolescence, Aspergers, and High-Functioning Autism

A Parent & Professional Workshop

Description: Adolescence is a time of transitions and change. Anyone
who has a child or student with Aspergers or High-Functioning Autism
knows that transitions are when problems are most likely to emerge.
Adolescence is one of the biggest transitions in a person's life.
This workshop focuses on issues surrounding adolescence for children

who care for children with AS or HFA to be better prepared for some
of the challenges that come with adolescence. Some topics included
are:

*increased complexity of Social and pragmatic language demands
*changes in sleep that occur with the onset of puberty
*the tension between comfort and autonomy
*development of greater age-appropriate skills of daily living
*increased likelihood of clinically significant Anxiety or Depression

Continental Breakfast and Chick-Fil-A Lunch are provided.
