A colleague of mine at the Univ of Nevada Reno is supervising a
dissertation and asked me to post this request for participants.

Researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno have developed a new
website for parents who have recently had a child diagnosed with
autism. This website is intended to assist parents through the
struggles and difficulties of learning that their child has autism.
It will help teach parents how to navigate the roadblocks they
frequently face, and covers the following five areas:
- understanding autism spectrum disorders
- different treatment options available
- applied behavior analysis for autism in depth
- working with the schools and funding treatment
- parent self-care and coping with emotional difficulties
This study will pilot test whether the website is useful in a number
of domains. To do so, we are seeking parents who have recently found
out that their child is autistic, and have received a diagnosis within
the past year. We are asking parents to read the information on the
website daily for a week and to complete paper and pencil assessment
measures before and after using the website. We estimate that there
will be 6-8 times that participants are asked to complete measures.
Most times should take about 30 minutes to complete. Participants
will be paid $20 for each completed assessment session.
This study has been approved by the University of Nevada, Reno's
Office of Human Research Protection.
