Houston County is known locally for "better, higher-achieving "
public schools out of all the Middle Georgia counties. There are
currently #3 High Schools in Warner Robins ( I reside in Macon..but
work in Warner Robins ) Northside HS ( failed AYP last couple of
years , I think ) , Warner Robins HS and Houston County HS- then of
course Perry HS located south of Warner Robins in Perry.
Specific programs there ??? That I'm unsure of. I've heard Bonaire
Middle School..that feeds into HCHS.. has an awesome program for ASD
students ?? Perhaps you could contact that particulars schools LEA
and find out more "inside" advice/knowledge about prgrams on the HS
level. ??
Also there is a small private school in Macon that serves students
with ADD/ASD as well as mild-moderate intellectual delays. They have
diferent tracks available to HS students. They are super
expensive.. and the primary reason my son could not attend there.
However, if your son has an IEP in public school now, and it's an
extensive IEP, he may qualify for a substantial SB10 scholarship that
would offset out-of pocket costs to your family 2009-2010 school
year ???? They have a website - Woodfield Academy, GA- google and
you'll see the web address.
Maybe this post was of some help ??
