Dear Families and Friends:


Just a reminder about our meeting on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00pmOur speaker will be Dr. Sharp from the Marcus Autism Center.   His presentation will be Feeding Difficulties in Children with Autism, Assessment and Treatment


Dr. Sharp received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The University of Mississippi in 2006.  His graduate training included an emphasis in pediatric and child psychology, with activities ranging from research at St. Jude Children¢s Research Hospital to behavioral consultation for Head Start Early Intervention programs. Dr. Sharp c ompleted a pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington , DE , where he focused on the application of behavi orally-based interventions for severe behavior problems, feeding issues, anxiety and sleep difficulties.  Dr. Sharp has also taken an active role in the training of psychology interns, externs, and medical residents, with an emphasis placed on disseminating evidenced-based treatments for common behavior problems in young children. 

Dr. Sharp transitioned into a faculty position at the Marcus Autism Center ¢s Feeding Disorder Program in the fall of 2006. His current clinical and research interests focus on the assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders.  Dr. Sharp is involved in a number of projects investigating the feeding difficulties exhibited by children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Projects include the behavioral and nutritional outcomes among children with ASD receiving intensive interdisciplinary treatment, as well as variables impacting the expansion of dietary intake among children with ASD exhibiting severe food selectivity.
