AUTISM SPECTRUM SUPPORT GROUP MEETING NOTICE
THURSDAY—JANUARY 17
MORNING MEETING - 9:30 a.m. to 11:30a.m.
EVENING MEETING – 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Topic: Legal and Financial Planning for the Special Needs Child
Presenters: Jodi McMahon, CPA, CLU, ChFC and Pamela J. Hoppe, ChFC
from MetLife's Division of Estate Planning for Special Kids
Parents of children with special needs have many serious questions
about how to best provide for their children's futures. Some of the
most important issues to consider are: government benefit eligibility
once a child turns 18, guardianship and conservatorship for minors and
adults with special needs, and financial security for children even
after the decease of parents. When making these types of plans, it is
important to not only know what the issues are, but to also work with
someone who can help sort out the various options that are available.
Jodi McMahon and Pamela Hoppe are financial experts in the area of
special needs planning. They spoke to our support group a few years
ago—and helped many of us understand the complicated process of
planning for our children's futures. We are delighted that they are
returning to speak with us again. They will familiarize us with a
variety of legal documents, funding options, life insurance plans, and
advocacy services that are available to secure the best possible
outcome for our children. This is one of the most important
presentations that our support group will host this year. Please make
plans to attend either the morning or evening meeting.
RSVP
Please let us know if you are planning on attending one or both of
these meetings by sending an RSVP to Karen Kolacinski at
kkola@.... Please make sure to tell her if you are coming
to the morning meeting or evening meeting.
DIRECTIONS:
Our meetings are held at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in the "B"
building located near the front of the church campus. Our meeting
room is B116, next to the church library. Directions to Mt. Bethel
are as follows: From I-75 take exit #261, Delk Road and head East
(opposite Dobbins Air Force Base). If exiting Northbound, turn right
onto Delk Road. If exiting Southbound, turn left onto Delk. Delk
Road becomes Terrell Mill Road, which becomes Lower Roswell Road.
From I-75 the church is approximately 5 miles. It is a large yellow
church on the left, and a police/fire station is across the street on
the right. Turn into any church driveway. The parking spaces at the
front of the parking lot will be the ones closest to Building "B."
