As you consider your comments in writing to Tricare ...... I would like to
add the following information ...... The ECHO program is only available for
active duty service members and their families. My husband is retired and
we have Tricare Prime. If he was still active duty, Tricare would cover
$2500.00 per month is specialized services such as ABA for my autistic son.
However, because my husband is no longer active duty, we can not qualify for
the ECHO program. Tricare Prime does not cover any ABA services for retired
military families. How can it be medically necessary or not based on the
father's job status? Covered services should be based on whether or not the
services are necessary and beneficial not what the military status of the
parent is.
