Thank you so much! I sent her an email to find out more ..... The Autism Society of America is in the process of putting together this type of program which will be called "Autism 101". It will be a quarterly information and resource fair for families of children newly diagnosed with ASD. The first one will be in Feb 2007.
(Specifically for Dr. Montgomery) By the way, we had Steven's meeting today at the county office and they were all wonderful. We meet again in two weeks to discuss objectives and goals. Steven will be attending his current pre-K program from 8:00 to 11:00 and then will go to the local elementary to receive special services from 11:00 to 2:00. I will schedule a meeting with you in a few weeks to discuss our progress with Steven. My understanding is that I can schedule Steven with you up to 8 times (in addition to the testing) each year to discuss his needs. I really find that your comments are invaluable in assisting me with learning the appropriate ways to parent Steven and understanding his behaviors. Thank you so much for all you do and the incredible report you provided us with for Steven- the school psychologist was very impressed with the amount of testing results you provided and made many comments regarding the thoroughness of your evaluation and report.

Dear Ms. Riggs and Gilbert:
The Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Autism Society is indeed putting
together such a training for parents of newly diagnosed children on
the spectrum. It is being organized by Cindy Pike Cindy2006@asaga.com
at ASA and is to include a broad range of professionals and parents in
order to cover assessment, treatment, funding, rights, and other areas
to help orient parents. We have been asked to do several talks and
have agreed to do whatever we can to support this project.
Cindy is a terrific person and very enthusiastic - I am certain that
she will be more than happy to answer any questions that she can about
this project. My understanding is that the first session is to happen
in November but I do not recall being given a firm date as of yet.
