Hello.......my name is Desirae. I am a 28 year old married mommy.
Im walking in the Huntingtons Disease Walk for a Cure in Orange
County. My dad was diagnosed with HD in 1991. I found out I had HD
on XMas day in 1995 at the age of 17. I was 5 months pregnant with
my son Brendan. I chose to not get upset but choosing to proceed
with my life because I have things to do. I felt sitting around
feeling sorry for myself wasnt the way I wanted to live my life. In
1999 had my daughter Ariel. My kids have a 50/50 chance of getting
HD from me. In 2002 in finally married the love of my life, Danny. I
could not have these great things in my life if I had decided to be
depressed about my diagnosis. My dad is down to a little over
100lbs, had a feeding tube inserted last year, walks with a cane,
has trouble walking, talking, chewing, swallowing and is not going
to get any better. My mom takes care of him. I know my symptoms are
in the near future. Therefore Im doing this walk while I can. For
everyone that has HD, takes care of someone with HD, knows someone
with HD or has lost someone to HD, I am doing this for you. Its the
least I can do. With your help we wont have to
wonder..........."What if"? What is I had donated? Did I do my part
to help? Even donating a penny is one step in the right direction.

We are walking to honor my dad or Papa. I am getting people who want
to be on "Team Papa" with me. Let me know if you are interested or
know someone that could help. We also have whats called a "virtual
team member". You can be on "Team Papa", raise money for our team,
but you dont have to do the walk in October. Thanks for your support
& time. For Wish me luck. -- Desirae
