One of the big disadvantages of growing up is that you have lost the ability to
be happy. You are too focused on your day job that you have stop enjoying life.
It is almost as if you start living for tomorrow, without realizing that
tomorrow will also be like today.
The good news is that you can still live happily by changing how you think. You
have to eliminate any negative emotional baggage that you have acquired over all
these years.
These baggages can be harmful and helpful as this baggage will determine the way
you view your life. If the baggage is a negative one, it prevents you from
enjoying life you ought to. A child, if you notice, has no inhibitions. It will
lick an ice-cream cone with delight, even if the ice-cream flows down the chin.
But will you do so? You will be more worried as to what others will think or say
about you. In other words, as you grow up you stop thinking about yourself as an
individual. Instead, your thinking starts getting conditioned by what others
will say about you.
This is not a happy development. You need to live your own life if you want to
be happy. You need to find time for yourself, time that you can spend without
inhibitions with your wife, children and friends.
To accomplish that, you need to re-look into your schedule. Look carefully and
patiently and you find that not all the things you have to do have to be done
alone. Some of the work you have in your workplace can be shared among your
colleagues. Some simple house chores like repairing things can be done by your
kids perhaps. By doing these, you are creating precious time for yourself and
for your family. Not only you will feel happy, others around you will feel it
too.
The next important area you need to settle is money. Money is a great tool to
settle many disputes in a family as with money, many basic necessities are taken
care of. Find ways to increase your income and manage it. By doing so, you can
achieve financial freedom which could be very helpful during your later years.
Many people make the mistake of earning more and more money. Many succeed but it
may come with a negative outcome which is increased desires and stress. Money
alone cannot give you the happiness that you always wanted. I not saying money
is not good. Having lots of money is extremely good but you need to use it
wisely in order for you to have the happiness.
Your happiness depends very much on your health too. Most people realized this
when their stress is taking a heavy toll on their health. Only when this
happened then people started taking care of their health. In some cases, it may
be too late. However, I believed that you still have the time to improve your
health. Join a gym, change your diet to a healthy one and give your body some
time to rest.
Besides gym workouts, you can also join yoga and meditation classes. These
courses are super effective in helping you to take control of your mind and body
which eventually reduces your stress. These classes involve breathing exercises
which are a excellent way to relieve your stress.
Finally, you can also take some time out to do voluntary work. These activities
give you a tremendous amount of satisfaction and make you feel happier.
So, if you decide to be happy like a child, you can. All that you need is to
change your thought process. It is a decision that you will always cherish.
