It might be good to read this book called Passing for Normal by Amy Wilensky.  She describes her struggles with ocd and twitches.  Check it out.  It's a good read.

I understand what you both are saying.  It's really hard.  I have a hard time not pushing people away because I'm afraid that I might relapse and end up in my room scared to come out and then I'll have to answer questions about why.

Hi, Guys!
Good to hear from all of you! Yep, ocd is a really
rotten thing to have. She bee, I think you're into the
hypochondriac part of ocd. I used to be that way. If
someone else had something, so did I. I have a
daughter who is very into the going to the doctor
scene, too. It's just all a part of this terrible
disease.
I know what you mean about having to think yourself to
craziness, too. I think so much, I don't know how I
can actually act, after I analyze every single stupid
little thing. It's horrible.
You know, my therapist told me I choose to do what I
do. I do it because it makes me feel better about
myself. Somehow, I know he is right. However, I don't
know how to stop choosing to do what I do the
most......worry, fear, etc.
My prayers are with all of us ocd people, and all
those who suffer from any afflictions. God's Blessings
and do try to put today in God's Hands....He doesn't
need us to worry for Him.
Love and prayers always,
Barb

True you are not alone. I push my friends away not because I dont think they like me, on the contrary they are there trying to help me. I only have but a few but they dont get my form of OCD. I dont think anyone in this group nor anyone that I have met in counseling is afflicted with this form. I am literally thinking myself sick. No one can talk about diseases around me nor can I listen to it on tv or radio. I am so self centered it is unbelievable. And believe this or not this is not how I normally am. I am usually caring really over caring like Barbara about others health and well being. But these past three years with my husbands chronic health issues in and out of the hospitals my OCD has been horrific. I spend money I dont have going from doctor to doctor. My most recent thing is going to have an MRI and an EEG because over the last few years a few times I have had bad twitches a few times. I HOPE IT IS ONLY THE MEDS that I have been taking, Say a prayer for me ok,. Thank you and God bless all of you.

Yes, I understand what you mean by making friendships
stresships. I, too, have done that. It's that I fear
contamination so much (me contaminating someone and
then someone contaminating me) that I've stayed away
from many of my friends and places where I used to go
because of my ocd fears. That is too bad. It isn't
right. It isn't what God intended for His people to
do. We are to reach out to people. Yet, ocd makes one
not able to do that. Thank Heavens Mother Theresa
wasn't ocd, or she never could have helped the
millions she reached out to. My therapist told me that
once. It's so very true.
So, my fellow ocd-er, good luck to you, and I will add
you to my ocd people whom I pray for. If only we all
could just place all our faith and trust in God, then
this would all be just a mute point.
God Bless,
Barb

Hello,

I'm currently helping to develop a documentary dealing with issues
surrounding peoples perceptions of hygiene and wondered if perhaps
somebody from this forum would be able to help.

We are looking for several people who have different experiences
regarding hygiene - in the sense that their lives have affected the
way they take care of themselves. For example we are looking for
people who don't bathe out of choice, people who are seemingly too
busy to wash and people who have conditions which affect their
hygiene.

We were given information via a psychiatrist, whom deals with OCD
sufferers, that OCD can sometimes result in people not bathing due to
the process of washing dominating their lives (due to time
consumption) and therefore they have had to make the choice to stop
washing.

What we would like to do is speak with anyone who has/ knows of
someone with a similar condition to this who wouldn't mind speaking
with us about their experiences. We are making a serious documentary
following these people's lives (only for a few days/weeks) and are
looking to get information out there that could help people with
similar conditions and whom feel that they may be the only ones
suffering.

Please do get in touch should you wish to take part - either via
email on suneil@... or via telephone on 020 7713 6868. We
look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards,

Suneil.

While I do not respond on a consistant level, due to lack of time or OCD issues, avoidance, etc., i have received quite a bit of knowledge about OCD and never heard about twitching, at least not uncontrolled.  Some may do so in a counting fashion, but, nevertheless, it could always be possible, and many of the medications that are given for psychiatric problems, including anxiety disorders like OCD, may cause twitching in some rare cases.  Staring is another matter.  If you have problems OCD related that are due to your appearance or low self esteem too, staring could be a problem.  I use to have a problem that my hair, long at the time, had to be COMPLETELY and UTTERLY look glued to my head or completely straight.  My part had to be exact, and would make either a bun in the center back of my head or perfectly equal pigtails.

My salvation, coming to the realization that i could not control it, ..................... after much thought, i cut my hair, LOL

I have not experienced this personally, but I have heard that OCD and tourettes sydrome are cousins.  Many people have both disorders.
