I was diagnosed with OCD around 3 years ago and have been on Clomiprmaine ("Anafranil") for around 2 years.

 

At first, I didn't want to go on any medication, but it has made a big difference.

 

Although I'm now on quite a low dose (30 to 40 mg/day) I find that many of my symptoms return if I take any less, or miss a few days medication.

 

Although I don't really want to be on tablets for the rest of my life, for now I'm happy to keep taking the low dose as being free(ish) from OCD has made such a difference.

 

I wondered though, does anyone know if there are any long-term effects to taking these drugs?  My doctor has said no, but only ever talks in terms of a  couple of years in the future - I'm worried about what effect they might have if I'm still taking them in 20 years time!

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
