I am new to the group and I am popping in to say HELLO!
I am pre-op ...having had my first consult and now I am off to finish a
cardiac workup to get cardiac clearance for the surgery. (date
is May 23rd for that - a stress test)
The week before that, I get a Psychiatric evaluation. The surgeon
explained that 20% of all morbidly obese people seeking WLS
were sexually abused as children and one reason for the psychiatric
clearance is to make sure that the patient is able to cope with
living as a normal sized person.
I spent my childhood, teen years and young adult years as a normal
sized person...it isnt going to be a problem to be normal-sized
once more --LOL!)
In addition--I was never sexually abused. For that matter I wasnt
abused in ANY way...I had a good childhood. If anything made me
less than a perfectly well adjusted human, it was a gruesome marriage.
LOL!! (and thats in the past...though the weight issue stayed
well past the point it should have, sigh...)
Has anyone in this group had problems adjusting to being a smaller
self ?
