Hi Cathy,
Sorry to hear that Don has been having seizures but the issues you have brought up is something I have been looking into as well.Darren had a seizure at work which was fine as he was in a safe environment and they knew what to do but I started thinking about what if hes at home or cycling into work.We have applied for a medic alert bracelet which will tell an ambulance person what his condition is,what medication he takes etc.and he also has a plastic wallet with all his details. It would have been great if Darren had this when he had the seizure on the bus as there was a bit of confusion when the ambulance arrived. The website is http://www.medicalert.co.nz/index.htm
I have also looked into the St Johns Lifelink Medical Alarms where they press a button and an ambulance gets sent out.Does Don get auras with his seizures so he would have time to press a button.I don't
know if its suitable because Darren does not need an ambulance each time so I have emailed them to see if they could connect if to ring my mobile.I just today spoke with the epilepsy society who were very helpful, have you ever spoke with them.
Thank you for your kind offer of assistance of help if we ever come to Auckland.
Take care
Darren and Hilary

Hi Guys,Hope your week has been a little bit easier, Penny. Sending lots of positive thoughts to Dave, yourself and the boys.Don had a couple of seizures this week. Usually they are in the early hours of the morning but these were late afternoon, the first just before I arrived home. It raised the question of being able to contact me if he was alone. He found it difficult to communicate, dialling a phone number was impossible. Have any of you had to apply for a bracelet or similar device used for this purpose? They have increased the Epilim and Dexamethasone and he seems to have settled down.Hope all is well with you, Bruce and the children, Linda. Do give us a progress report when you get a moment. Have any of you Wellingtonians heard from Becs? This must be a very difficult time for her.Interesting to hear you have decided to delay Surgery, Hillary. Sometimes I wish we had thought about the different treatments a little longer before rushing in. If you come to Auckland and need assistance please let us know.Hope all is well with all you other BT sufferers and caregivers. Thinking about you all often.Take careCathy w/o Don
