Northwest Arkansas Survivors of Suicide (also known as SOS) is a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. The group meets in person in Springdale, AR on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month.

You are not alone in your unique grief and our group offers support in an atmosphere where you can feel safe and comfortable in sharing your painful experiences. We are still a new and growing group and have served around 30 people in our short time. However, our meetings are often small and intimate and most find that it is a more comfortable experience than they first thought it would be. Some even find it helpful to bring a supportive friend along with them to their first meeting to help ease the fear of coming the first time.

A note from the facilitator: I remember how nervous I was when I went to my first meeting, but all that I gained from being an active member was well worth it. Being a part of an SOS group helped give me the vision to join with the Northwest Arkansas Crisis Center to make sure that a group exists in our area.

If you live in the Northwest Arkansas area, please feel free to join our online group and/or join us at the in-person meetings to share with other survivors in the grief process. Meeting together can be encouraging as we support one another in dealing with the unique emotional and social issues of losing a friend, parent, sibling, child, spouse or any other loved one to suicide.
