Re: [Nursing students] Hi I am new

Crystal

I am typing this quickly as I have to get to work myself. Ok...The
government has financial aid programs that you can take part in. I would do a
yahoo search for it or go see the financial aid counselour at the school you are
going to attend. They can do it on computer and let you know if and how much
money you are eligible for within a day. Also you can log on to fastweb.com and
sign up. They will send you emails about scholarships you can apply for online.
Call the education dept of your local hospitals. Many hospitals have scholarship
programs that pay for your nursing education with the promise that you will work
for them for x amount of time (usually 2 yrs). I will say this much. I would
exhaust all my options before I take out a loan. Loans aren't fun at all. Go and
talk to the instructors at the college you are attending. Many organizations
have money to give away and these instructors may know how to get some of it. I
graduated this past may with my RN
license. In the fall, I was $450 dollars short the amt of my tuition. One of my
instructors called some people and got the rest of the money.

As far as the HESI, I never took it to get into school, I had to take a
Nursing HESI to get out. Good luck

Now that we are on our own I have realized that I have to get a good
job to be able to support us. I had always thought that I would be a
stay at home mom and take care of my kids until they went to school.
I have always been interested in nursing but I just thought that I
would wait a few more years to start school. But now that I am
starting earlier I am excited about going back to school. I know
excited about going back to school doesn't make much since.
I joined this group so that I could get support from other nurses and
student nurses. Also to get as much help and advice as possible.
Number one!! I would like as much information on financial aid
opportunities that everyone else has. Being a single mother has a lot
more financial responsibilities than just being a student does. I
will take any financial aid that I can get. Number 2!! The biggest
worry that I have about going to nursing school is the HESI A2 the
entrance exam. Any help studying for that would be greatly
appreciated too. I have to take it in March and that's the only real
worry that I have.
I don't know if I am asking for too much but I thought that I would
ask for as much advice as I can.
