Re: Lifepak 20's and paddles

Hi, You don't need the paddles, but at our hospital our docs insisted we have them, I think the paddles should only be in CCU/ ER they confuse a lot of staff.Keep it simple and reduce the cost by selective placement of lifepak hand on paddles. Good Luck, PS NO guideline I know of requires both.

Good evening all
Throughout our hosp we recently replaced all the remainder of our lifepak 9's and 12's with 20's. The questions I am posing to you are as follows
is it necessary to have quick look combo pads and paddles on the lifepak (as back-up incase the pads failed)? what is the current practice? Is there evidence-based guidelines to guide this practice? If so where can I get them?

My other question is as lifepak 20 is an AED are you training the medsurg areas to apply the quick looks and use the AED? Do your facilities have the lifepaks default to AED mode when turned on in medsurg areas?

Any feedback and info. is greatly appreciated as always
Thanks
